Film Submission: “Under the Same Sky – Haikus from a Time of War”

I am currently preparing the submission of my short poetic film: Under the Same Sky – Haikus from a Time of War to the International Video Poetry Festival in Athens, taking place in May 2026.

This project carries a deep emotional resonance for me. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, I have felt an ever-growing need to express the fragility and humanity hidden behind the headlines. Many of the haikus included in the film come from my book Life in 3 Lines / La Vie en 3 Lignes, such as:

“Spring forgotten

the birds fall silent

artillery roars”

Through this cinematic adaptation, the haikus find a new breath — carried by images, rhythm, and music — creating a contemplative yet emotionally raw exploration of conflict and resilience.

Submitting this film to Athens, a city deeply connected to poetry and human expression, feels like a natural continuation of my artistic path. I truly hope the film will resonate with the festival’s selection committee, and I look forward to sharing it more widely if it is chosen.

Je prépare actuellement la soumission de mon court métrage poétique Under the Same Sky – Haikus from a Time of War au Festival International de Vidéopoésie d’Athènes, qui se tiendra en mai 2026.

Ce projet a pour moi une forte résonance émotionnelle.Depuis le début de la guerre en Ukraine, je suis profondément touchée par les histoires humaines dissimulées derrière les images. Plusieurs haïkus du film proviennent de mon livre Life in 3 Lines / La Vie en 3 Lignes, comme celui-ci :

"Printemps oublié

les oiseaux se sont tus

vacarme de l’artillerie"

Dans cette adaptation cinématographique, les haïkus prennent une nouvelle ampleur — portés par les images, le tempo et la musique — offrant une exploration contemplative, intime et douloureusement humaine du conflit et de la résilience.

Soumettre ce film à Athènes, ville emblématique de la poésie et de la pensée, s’inscrit naturellement dans mon parcours artistique.J’espère de tout cœur que le film saura toucher le comité de sélection, et je serai heureuse de pouvoir le partager plus largement s’il est retenu.
